Roy Palmer was born in Sutton, Surrey on the 8th of May 1938.

He was an entrepreneur who to survive this world had become a man of all seasons. He was an optimist, educated in Western Australia in a one teacher bush school. He left school at 13. His philosophy in life was 'there's always a way'.

In 1976 whilst in his friends late Aunts attic Roy found handwritten journals from 1799 onwards inspiring years of research and taking his imagination on a journey to over two hundred years ago. He began to walk in the footsteps that Sarah Ellis, the author of the journals had walked before and learnt first-hand the History that had surrounded her and giving him the ability to compare his current life. He and his wife began to know her family and her roots as well as they knew their own.
